​HBOIERC is looking to purchase several filtered bottle filling stations for our school. This project began as a discussion with our GREEN TEAM students. As a group we discussed the benefits of having a filtered bottle filling station in our school. The benefits of the system were discussed and it was agreed that it provided:
  • healthier water for all users.
  • reduction of beverage containers being thrown in the garbage and/or collected by the recycle program.
  • free access to water for all students, staff and visitors.
  • better attention span for students who are fully hydrated.
  • more hydration leads to less obesity. Cold, clean drinking water is a better choice for young people who may be in danger of obesity and diabetes due to drinking other beverages that are high in sugar.
  • sugar drinks often causes students to become hyperactive and unable to focus on classroom work. Fresh, clean, cool drinking water calms students and allows their bodies and minds to perform better.
  • physical education students, who bring their own reusable water bottles, can ensure they are better hydrated during strenuous activity in the gym and around the school. This will allow the students to perform better with fewer injuries.
