Colby Duncan
This is Colby Duncan. He is on a Senior Year 3 Individualized Programme in Chemistry 30S. He is assisted by Albertine Poker, his Education Assistant. Colby is chosen as student of the year because of his dedication, humour, and desire to learn and grow. He comes into the classroom ready to absorb more knowledge and puts much effort into his academic work until he achieves his goals.
One of his goals this semester was to sow sets of tomato seeds and compare the growth of those germinating in each group. Of the 27 seeds that he planted, 25 germinated. With the assistance of Albertine, Colby compared the time it took for the seeds to grow, the height they reached each week, and the overall size and health of plants as they matured. He nurtured them by giving them water every day he came to class or whenever they needed it.
The tomato plants did very well, and the teachers were delighted to take them home at the end of the semester. I am super proud of Colby, who proved that he could do a competent job completing his tasks and achieving his goals this semester.
